Cyber Monday is on track to hit a record $9.4 billion in sales while foot traffic at stores reached 160 million over the weekend. Target Corp. (TGT), Best Buy Co. Inc. (BBY) and Lululemon Athletica Inc. (LULU) are among the winners from the record-breaking holiday shopping weekend, analysts say. About 160 million people went to stores over Thanksgiving weekend, spending an average of $504, up 50% from last year, according to data from the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Black Friday online sales are on track to reach $7.4 billion. Items ranging from computers to toys are deeply discounted on Black Friday, but there's one thing that shoppers might want to avoid purchasing on the big shopping holiday: sneakers. Compared with Black Friday, sneakers have lower prices on 66% of the other days of the year, according to data compiled by RunRepeat, a site that specializes in helping shoppers find athletic shoes.

Shoppers awoke from their Thanksgiving food comas ready to shop, with $600 million in Black Friday online sales tallied by 9 am ET, according to Adobe Analytics. Black Friday is on track to finish with $7.4 billion in sales. The cash registers were also ringing on Thanksgiving day, with e-commerce sales hitting $4.2 billion, a 14.5% increase from 2018 and the first time digital sales on Thanksgiving exceeded $4 billion.

Though U.S. economic indicators are positive, uncertainty could give shoppers pause. Holiday season excitement is setting in, but so is consumer alarm about the possibility of an economic recession, which could derail the end-of-year shopping season. Shopper outlook for the U.S. economy in 2020 is the weakest it has been in eight years, according to the 2019 Holiday Survey of Consumers conducted by Deloitte.

A quarter of shoppers have finished their online shopping for the season, though perhaps they should've waited. There are "sharp" discounts expected on Thanksgiving day, Adobe says.

Adobe shares rose 4.9% after hours, following a 0.1% decline to close the regular session at $277.50. The company forecast adjusted fiscal 2020 earnings of about $9.75 a share on revenue of about $13.15 billion.
