    WINNIPEG, Manitoba--The ICE Futures canola market was stronger at midday Wednesday, seeing a continuation of its recent rally. European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil futures both hit fresh highs overnight, which spilled into the canola market. A weaker tone in the Canadian dollar was also supportive.

    WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Intercontinental Exchange canola futures were stronger Wednesday morning, continuing with the gains made in the overnight session. Support is coming from sharp upticks in European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil, along with increases in the Chicago soy complex. Ongoing issues with tight supplies and production uncertainty also underpinned canola values.

    Shares of some of the world's largest palm oil producers jumped as prices of the edible oil look set to hit another record high Wednesday. Shares of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd., the world's largest palm oil company by planted area, was up 13% in late- afternoon trading in Asia, while Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd., IOI Corp.     WINNIPEG, Manitoba--The ICE Futures canola market was stronger on Tuesday, climbing above nearby resistance as gains in outside markets provided support. Malaysian palm oil, European rapeseed and Chicago Board of Trade soyoil futures all posted solid gains, with that buying interest spilling into the canola market. Chart-based buying added to the advances.

    WINNIPEG, Manitoba--The ICE Futures canola market was sharply higher at midday Tuesday, as rallies in outside markets provided support. Canola climbed to the top end of its well established range, with speculative buying building on itself and adding to the advances. Crude oil hit its strongest levels in seven years on Tuesday, which spilled into the vegetable oil markets as well.

  • ICE Canada Morning Comment: Spike in Edible Oils Pushes Up Canola

    WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Intercontinental Exchange canola futures were stronger Tuesday morning, getting support from a surge in edible oils. There were sharp gains in European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil, along with significant upticks in Chicago soyoil. Chicago soybeans were up slightly while soymeal stepped back a little.

  • Eni, Republic of Congo Sign MoU on Development of Agro-Biofuel Sector

    Eni SpA (E) said late Monday that it has signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Congo to jointly develop the agro-biofuel sector in the country. The oil-and-gas major said the agreement set the framework for industrial scale production of castor oil, providing feedstock for the company's bio-refinery system. A pilot phase is planned to start this month, Eni said.

Tight supplies and the need to ration demand remained supportive, as did bullish technical signals. A rally in crude oil fueled gains in the vegetable oil markets in general, with some of that strength spilling into canola.
